@umer936
I'm on the east coast so tech isn't that casual here, and this isn't my ultimate reason for not liking IT
I just am disinterested in the work to be honest, I can't get passionate about it.
Also yeah feds do dress a bit nicer, I'm in the Baltimore/D.C area
The feds recruit from my school a decent bit
Depends where you're at. IT at a financial or government you can definitely dress up. I'm interning in IT in federal gov't (PM me if you want to know what agency). My boss wears a sport coat daily. Higher up the chain, they wear suits. Personally, I don't like too casual but also don't like dressy. I usually wear like the nicer blue pants (in between jeans and slacks), a button-down, and Sperry's. If I started wearing suits, I'd be a bit overdressed, but not much (I mean, I'm an intern lol).
That said, you'd definitely wear suits more if you were like business/financial/PR/etc. But IT has a pretty broad range.

In the tech industry in Austin though, there are companies where everyone wears shorts.
