Would you by the AMD Ryzen 1800x?
It doesn't out perform intel but we have to note there isn't software optimization for it
I reckon it will be a beast once that happens

@.:A-MAN:.
I don't do a lot of editing so a quad core i7 is probably a better better idea

You also have to note that it's literally almost half the price for the closest performing i7.

In all fairness, if you're only going for gaming, technically it would be better to get a good i7, however the price premium is likely not worth the extra 5-10fps if you care about money.

AMD has always had better price for performance IMO.

The only issue is that Intel has risen to the top, and advertises so heavily with PC commercials and such to the point that people think AMD processors are worthless.

I built a $600 gaming rig with an AM3+ socket, with a quad core FX 4300. When I wanted to get rid of it, I was offered only $120 at a local pawn shop, and I was told that "AMDs just don't sell like Intels do".

Now I'm selling individual parts on eBay (at a loss still, obviously), but I'm going to get way more than $120 back.

There's just such a bad stigma around AMD. People think because it's cheaper it's garbage, when in reality, it's just a few frames per second difference now moreso than ever.
